I'm confused. Cotton said there was souls attached to the keys, and then she said she wasn't real. I can't connect that well.

And was the book she read to Azure the one they're talking about? And it wasn't translated?

@Warpstar: Yes, the book was written in an ancient language that Storm knows a little bit of, and he was translating it at the time, but didn't finish it.
It was then that Azure found it and took it into his room, being a rambunctious youth and all, but he couldn't read it either, so he asked Cotton to.

Cotton can read the book, because reasons. Those reasons being that she (spoilers?) is connected to one of the crystals, like the four elementals. The four ancient puffballs/kirbies are, well, ancient, and can read the texts.

So in a way, she isn't real. Or at least that's her conclusion. Maybe someone will help her understand what it means to be "real"...
